Frequently Asked Questions

We've compiled a list of answers to common questions.

After you have installed the add-on from the G Suite Marketplace, open an existing Google Sheet or create a new one. Then go to ADD-ONS > MARKETVIEW > FORMULA BUILDER to open the add-on sidebar and follow these steps:

  1. In “Insert in Cell” input the cell reference (e.g. “B2”) of where you want to insert the data.

  2. In “Ticker Symbol Cell” input the cell reference of where the corresponding ticker is located (e.g. “A2”).

  3. Select then the Data Type you want to pull and the specific Data Attribute from the dropdown menus (e.g. “Real Time Data” and “Price”).

  4. Once done, click on Create and in a few seconds you’ll see the data generated in the cell selected in step 1.

Marketview allows you to retrieve real-time data and historical data into your Sheets. We support US stocks, ETFs, and cryptocurrencies. For a complete overview and description of all data supported for each instrument, please see the USER MANUAL.

For a complete overview of all assets currently supported, please have a look at our TICKER DATABASE. Simply search by name or by ticker symbol to check if the securities you’re looking for are covered. Please note that we do our best to keep expanding our database by including new assets regularly, but if a ticker symbol you’re looking for is not present in the list, please drop us an email at chat@market-view.net and, if data are available via API, we’ll include it right away.

All Marketview functions automatically refresh every 60 mins* after the very first opening of the Formula Builder, which activates the time trigger.

*Note: At every auto-update, Marketview will retrieve the real-time data of that precise time. Please note that the 60-minutes time trigger is a limitation imposed by Google on its add-ons. We guarantee that in case Google decides to lower or remove entirely that limitation, we will update Marketview accordingly to allow more frequent updates.

The data loading speed depends primarily on the number of Marketview functions you have created in your sheet. The more the functions, the bigger the volume of data called simultaneously and hence the longer time needed for loading.

However, if your functions appear to be stuck on “LOADING…” and won’t refresh even after a couple of minutes, this is most likely a cache issue that can be solved by manually refreshing the sheet/web page or, more rarely, by waiting for next hourly data refresh.

Not all data are available for all financial assets. For an overview of the compatibility between data attributes and instruments, please have a look at the COMPATIBILITY MATRIX. In case you are experiencing any malfunction and are unable to see data that should otherwise be available for your selected ticker symbol, please contact us at chat@market-view.net and we will be happy to assist you in 24 hours or less.
